Separate road mishaps leave eight dead, 16 injured

Police personnel have launched an investigation into both accidents.

MIANWALI/ TAUNSA SHARIF (Dunya News) – At least eight people were killed while 16 sustained injuries in two separate road accidents today (Wednesday).

According to details, a collision between truck and bus left eight people dead in Mianwali. The bodies and injured were shifted to nearby hospital for further investigation.

On the other hand, 16 children sustained severe wounds when a school bus suddenly overturned in Taunsa Sharif. The victims were immediately taken to tehsil hospital.

Deadly accidents are common on roads across Pakistan due to bad road infrastructure and rampant disregard of traffic laws.

Over 9,000 road accidents are reported to the police every year, killing on average around 5,000 people, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
