Incitement against state, spreading religious hatred and terrorism sections were added.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Government has yet to take action against those who staged a sit-in protest at D-Chowk Islamabad earlier, but has started tightening the noose against those involved. The sections of incitement against state, spreading religious hatred and terrorism were added Saturday to the cases already registered against the religious leaders involved in the protest.

According to the details, the sections were added on the advice of Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar. 2 cases have already been registered against Sarwat Ijaz Qadri, Khadim Hussain and others implicated.

According to the added sections, the punishments for these crimes are life imprisonment or death by hanging.

Police officials have stated that recording of speeches made by the religious leaders and the incidents of vandalism have been obtained from the city’s CCTV cameras and other sources. Police added that these will be included in the cases registered against those involved.

According to Interior Ministry sources, demand for the release of target killer arrested from Karachi was made earlier by Sarwat Ijaz Qadri but Nisar refused the demand.

Earlier, an estimated 25,000 supporters of Mumtaz Qadri forced their way into the capital from Rawalpindi, where they had gathered Sunday afternoon to offer prayers for Qadri.

The protesters damaged Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus stations and other government and private property.

In a move to block the routes, they also set the trucks and containers on fire which were placed by the authorities, resulting in a loss of more than 40 million to the owners.
