KARACHI (Dunya News) - Former President Pervaiz Musharraf Friday departed abroad from Karachi s airport at approximately 4:09 AM. He is travelling on Emirates flight, EK-611 to Dubai, which was earlier booked for him. Musharraf reached Karachi s airport amidst high security and reached the plane via the old terminal. Law enforcement agencies did not even inform the police about the exact time he left for the aiport from his residence. Rangers’ contingent was posted outside his residence prior to leaving for the airport. He will be reaching Dubai at approximately 6:15 AM.

Musharraf s from his residence to the airport was kept highly secretive. His luggage was earlier transported to the airport. A security protocol later left his home but Musharraf s vehicle was not amongst this protocol. He was instead travelling in a black colored car accompanied by a single police vehicle which arrived at the old terminal.
The green light for the former military ruler to leave the country comes a day after the Supreme Court lifted a ban on him travelling abroad informed the Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar.
Musharraf s lawyers said he needed to go abroad for urgent spinal treatment not available in Pakistan.
The retired general and former president was banned from leaving the country in 2013 after he returned to the country on an ill-fated mission to contest elections.
"Today lawyers of General Musharraf filed a proper application and in the light of Supreme Court decision, the government has allowed him to go abroad for medical treatment," the interior minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, told a press conference.
Khan said that Musharraf s lawyers had given guarantees that he would return to Pakistan after six weeks and that he would appear in court for ongoing cases against him.
