PM Nawaz leaves for Qatar, historic gas deal to be signed

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will leave for Qatar on a two-day visit today (Wednesday).

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has left for Qatar today (Wednesday) on a two-day visit on the invitation of Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson has said that a high level delegation, which includes PAF chief, is also accompanying the PM on the visit. Pakistani delegation will hold meeting with the Qatari Emir and Prime Minister.

A number of Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) in the field of Health, Radio and Television, Education and Research and a long-term Sale/purpose agreement (SPA) of LNG would be concluded by both sides.

The main focus of the Nawaz Sherif’s visit will include energy cooperation, trade and investment, defence and increase in employment opportunities for the Pakistani workforce in Qatar.

Both leaders are also expected to discuss regional and international issues.

To make this visit a momentous occasion two JF-17 Thunders and two Super Mushshak aircraft along with a PAF contingent of Pakistan Air Force have already arrived in Doha, Qatar. It will be a historic occasion when indigenously produced aircraft of Pakistan will be flying in the skies of Qatar for the first time.

Both these aircraft will perform static and aerial display which would be witnessed by Nawaz Sharif and the Emir of Qatar, PAF chief Air Marshal Suhail Aman, his Qatari counterpart and other high ranking officials.
