Fog blankets several cities of Punjab again

Motorways section from Lahore to Pindi Bhattian has been closed for all kind of traffic due to fog.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Dense fog has blanketed several cities of Punjab, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Pattoki, Okara, Sheikhupura, Khanewal, Multan, Bahawalpur and Lodhran, on night between Tuesday and Wednesday, causing problem in the flow of traffic on Motorway and other highways.

 

Dense fog has also disrupted flight schedule at the Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport and has been suspended since 3 am as visibility was less than 50 metres.

Flights coming from Abu Dhabi, Istanbul, Riyadh and Muscat have been diverted to other cities whereas three flights taking off from Allama Iqbal International Airport have been cancelled.

Motorway’s section from Lahore to Pindi Bhattian and from Faisalabad to Pindi Bhattian and Gohra has been closed for all kinds of traffic as visibility was down to zero due to dense fog.

Motorway police have appealed the drivers to use GT Road for travel from Lahore to Pindi Bhattian and switch on fog lights while driving at very slow speed.

The Motorway police have also requested the people to stay home and avoid unnecessary travelling as visibility was down to zero due to heavy fog.

Besides this thick fog has also affected the train service in various cities.

Severe fog has also engulfed Peshawar, Multan, Dera Ismail Khan and Pindi Bhattian and have halted the routine life.

Meteorological department states that thick fog will likely envelop plain areas of Punjab including Peshawar and Sukkur division during Saturday and Sunday

Earlier on Tuesday, six people were killed while three sustained injuries in separate road accidents due to fog in parts of Punjab.

At least two people were killed and three other sustained injuries when a trailer collided with a passenger bus coming from opposite side at the Sheikhupura Road due to poor visibility.
