Who will rule Karachi, who'll be its mayor? Local body polls will be held tomorrow in Karachi

KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Who will rule Karachi? Who will be the mayor of Pakistan’s largest city, and its economic hub? The citizens of Karachi will decide tomorrow in the first local body elections in over 10 years time, reported Dunya News.

Dunya News created a poll on Twitter asking the Twitterati who they think will win the elections on December 5 and as of now, the Jamaat Islami (JI) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) alliance seems to be taking a clear victory. However, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is also catching on. You may also vote for Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) or Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) if you wish to.

Local body elections will be held in 6 districts of Karachi, namely West Karachi, South Karachi, East Karachi, Koangi, Central Karachi and Malir, on December 5. The rulers of the ‘City of Lights’ will be decided in this election.

Polling will be held from 7:30am to 5:30pm on Firday.

In Korangin, 274 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive while 306 have been declared sensitive. The security during the elections will be supervised by police and Rangers, as well as Pakistan army teams. Pak army officials have taken over their duties as quick response team.

Will the history repeat itself? Will MQM bring its mayor yet again or will the alliance between PTI and JI be able to stage an upset with its slogan of change? Who will be judged as the victor by the people of Karachi? Wait will be over in just 1 day.
