The ECP will announce its decision on the matter after reviewing the PML-N leader's written apology.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali on Tuesday submitted an unconditional apology to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for violation of electoral code of conduct in recently held local government elections in Faisalabad district.

The Minister is accused of continuing the election rally despite expiry of deadline given by the ECP. The electoral body has warned of strict action against those leading the rally.

In his response today, Abid Sher Ali has stated that he participated in Workers Convention as a party worker and had no role in organizing the event, thus, he has not committed any violation but he would still apologise if the ECP thinks he has done anything wrong.

The ECP will announce its decision on the matter after reviewing the PML-N leader’s written apology.

On October 31, Gulberg police registered a case against the leaders of PML-N’s local council poll faction -- Mayor group -- for holding a public gathering in violation of the election code of conduct.

It may be mentioned here that the Chaudhrys suffered setback in the local elections at the hand of another group of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
