The terrorist act was condemned worldwide with German Vice Chancellor Angela Merkel expressing her grief and US President Barrak Obama and Russia’s Vladimir Putin offering condolences.

Turkey was rocked by twin suicide blasts on Saturday at a peace rally of leftist and pro-Kurdish activists in Ankara killing 95 people, the deadliest such attack in the country s recent history.

The blasts have raised distress which was already high as the government intensified its action against Kurdish militants while the country prepares for the upcoming November elections

Bodies of demonstrators were everywhere signifying the intensity of the attack. The act of terrorism wounded 246 of which 48 are in intensive care according to an updated toll announced by Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu s office while Turkey s pro-Kurdish Peoples Democratic Party (HDP) puts the figure at 128.

President Erdogan denounced the attack as a “heinous crime” and stated that it had targeted their country’s peace and unity.
No one has yet claimed the attack, however, according to the Turkish PM, Islamic State (IS) extremists, the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the far-left Revolutionary People s Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) were all being suspected.

Turkey’s unrest grew recently as 30 people were killed in the Kurdish town of Suruc on 20th of July targeting pro-HDP demonstrators. IS was blamed for the attack with the PKK calling it as a collaboration between the government and IS targeting the Kurdish people. PKK responded intensified its actions against Turkish security forces.
