Army Chief chairs meeting at Corps HQ to discuss Karachi law and order

COAS said that the nexus of terrorists, mafia and criminals will be dismantled.

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Army Chief General Raheel Sharif chaired a meeting to review law and order situation in Karachi at Corps Headquarters on Monday, reported Dunya News.

Chief Secretary Sindh, DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar, IG Sindh and other top officials are attended the meeting.

According to sources, DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar briefed the COAS regarding ongoing targeted operation in the metropolis.

Decision was taken during the conference to continue Karachi operation till elimination of mafia and terrorists. Briefing the meeting, IG Sindh Ghulam Haider said that government is not acting on the decision of Apex Committee and funds are not being released. He said that due to non-release of funds, police is having a hard time buying ammunition and equipment . Higher officials assured IG Sindh of timely solution to the problems.

Talking at the occasion, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif said that Karachi s situation has bettered. He said that the nexus of terrorists, mafia and criminals will be dismantled.  General Raheel Sharif assured that operation would continue till elimination of all such elements.

Army Chief also appreciated public support of intelligence agencies and Rangers.

Earlier today, COAS General Raheel Sharif visited Army Air Defence center at Malir Cantt and laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. COAS was briefed about the training activities at the center.

COAS also pinned the badges of rank on the shoulders of Lieutenant Gen Zamir Ul Hassan Shah, Adjutant General Pakistan Army to formally install him as Colonel Commandant of Army Air Defence.

 

 

He also addressed all officers and men of the Garrison.
