Federation agrees to hold Islamabad LB polls on party basis

The federal capital Islamabad will conduct LB election on July 25.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) –Federal government on Wednesday has shown approval over conducting local bodies election in Islamabad on party basis, Dunya News reported.

As per sources, the decision was taken due to the continuous pressure of opposition parties Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on the government. Besides this, a session is also underway at Attorney General office to debate on this decision and to inspect the possible legal complexities after the issuance of electoral schedule.

The meeting is being attended by special assistant to Prime Minister Ashtar Ausaf, Barrister Zafar Ullah and Tariq Fazal.

According to details, more than 1000 candidates have submitted their nomination papers to contest in LB polls however, the appeals challenging these papers can be filed till Thursday.

Moreover, the federal capital will hold LB polls on July 25.
