Sialkot SHOs decide to resign in protest against DPO's transfer after Daska incident

SHOs held an important meeting at DPO office in Sialkot today.

SIALKOT (Web Desk) – Station House Officers (SHOs) of police stations across Sialkot distirct have decided to tender their resignations in protest against transfer of District Police Office (DPO) Shahzad Asif Khan following Daska incident, Dunya News reported.

The decision was taken during an important meeting at DPO Office in Sialkot today (Thursday).

According to sources, the SHOs were of the view that DPO’s transfer despite arrest of the prime accused is not justified.

After leaving his post, DPO Shahzad Asif said that he belongs to a disciplined force and his duty is to protect property and lives of people. He urged the SHOs to continue their services.

Final decision by the police officials is expected to be announced by evening today.

On Wednesday, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had ordered transfer of DPO Shahzad Asif and the deputy superintendent of police in connection with the killing of two lawyers in Daska.

The lawyers alleged that station house officer (SHO) Shahzad Warraich on Monday opened fire on the protesting lawyers, killing two of them including Daska Bar President Rana Khalid Abbas.

As the news of the killings spread, the lawyers fraternity took to streets in different districts of Punjab and protested against the police brutality.
