ECNEC approves Prime Minister Laptop Scheme

ECNEC approved scheme worth Rs. 1.33 billion under which 400,000 laptops will be given in 4 years
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has on Friday approved Prime Minister Laptop Scheme worth Rs. 1.33 billion. 400,000 laptops will be distributed among the students under this scheme during the next four years, reported Dunya News.
ECNEC meeting, presided over by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, was held in Islamabad. According to the presser released after the meeting, the laptop scheme had been approved in the meeting.
According to the details, all the 400,000 laptops will be assembled locally.
The meeting also approved reconstruction of the roads destroyed during the 2010 floods. 343 kilometers of road will be constructed in the first phase while 309 km will be constructed during the next two and half years.
Repairing of barrages in Sindh was also approved during the meeting. Rs. 21.24 billion will be spent on this project. Funds from IBRD will also be requested for this project.
ECNEC also approved extension of water distribution projects in Faisalabad.
