Two days left for biometric verification of mobile SIMs

Chairman PTA warned that all unverified SIMs will be blocked by April 12.

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Syed Ismail Shah on Friday said that deadline for biometric verification of subscribers identity modules (SIMs) will expire on April 12 and it will not be extended further, Dunya News reported.

Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, Shah said that 70.7 million SIMs have been verified whereas 15.5 million SIMs have been blocked so far.

He warned that all unverified SIMs will be blocked by April 12.

Commenting on use of Afghan connections in Pakistan, the PTA chief said the matter has been conveyed to Afghan government and International Telecom Union.

To a question, he said that authorities are working on a legislation regarding restoration of Youtube. He hoped that the matter will be resolved soon.
