Punjab's electricity demand decreases due to rains

The production and demand now are 9,700 MW and 13,300 MW respectively

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The rains in different parts of Punjab have caused de-escalation in the electricity shortfall which now stands at at least 3,600 Megawatt (MW).

According to the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) sources, the electricity demand in the province has decreased due to the rains in different cities. The production and demand now are 9,700 MW and 13,300 MW respectively.

However, several areas reported technical faults due to storm on March 29 night.

According to the sources, the duration of electricity outages in rural and urban areas is eight and six hours respectively.
