SIALKOT (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Saturday has said that the government would be able to produce at least 3,600 MegaWatt (MW) electricity until December 2017. He vowed to overcome electricity crisis within next three to four years.

He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of exporters at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He said that the country which lacks gas and electricity can never progress. The PM said that the government is cutting a deal with China for at least 4,000MW electricity. Nawaz said that the electricity crisis was not produced by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government and thus it cannot be vanquished in a day.

He vowed to overcome the electricity crisis within the coming three to four years. Nawaz said that the government has decided to establish power plants from its own pocket and without any foreign funding.

He announced making an expressway from Sialkot to Lahore. While talking about the government s efforts to curb terrorism, he expressed a resolve to continue targeting criminals until the last one of them is killed. He said that it is government s responsibility to bring peace and stability not in Karachi but in the entire country. PM Nawaz said that the country always progressed with democratic system.  

He admired the performance of the Paksitan Army in clearing off several regions of the country of militants. He said that the Operation Zarb-e-Azb was launched after negotiations stalled.
