Police kill 13 TTP, Al-Qaeda suspects in Karachi

The suspected terrorists clashed with police near Al-Asif Square.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – At least thirteen suspected terrorists belonging to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Al-Qaeda were killed during encounter with police near Al-Asif Square area in Karachi today (Tuesday).

Police have expedited their action against terrorists following last week’s terror attack on Army Public School in Peshawar that left more than 140 people dead, most of them children.

On a tip-off, a heavy contingent of police personnel raided a location near Al-Asif Square in Sohrab Goth area. The suspects opened fire on police as they entered the locality.

The policemen retaliated strongly, killing 13 terrorists on the spot. A would-be suicide bomber was also arrested during the raid.

According to SSP Rao Anwar, the terrorists belonged to TTP and Al-Qaeda. They were planning a major attack in the city.

Moreover, police uniforms, explosives, hand grenades and other heavy weapons were seized from their possession.
