Army Chief meets PM Nawaz, discusses national security

Nation firmly believes in elimination of terrorism, the Prime Minister said.

 

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Army Chief General Raheel Sharif on Wednesday called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad and discussed overall security situation with particular reference to ongoing military operations in North Waziristan and Khyber Agency.

 

On the occasion, the Prime Minister said National Counter-Terrorism Authority will be made functional to effectively combat terrorism. He said a comprehensive strategy will have to be adopted against terrorism.

PM Nawaz also paid rich tribute to the martyred security personnel.

Earlier today, Director General (DG) Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Zaheerul Islam held a farewell meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the PM House.

The Prime Minister lauded Zaheerul Islam s professional capabilities saying that his services for the country as DG ISI are commendable.
Both also discussed matters of mutual interest.

DG ISI Lieutenant General Zaheerul Islam is retiring on November 7.
