PBA asks SC to restrict PEMRA as per law
The petition pleads the court to term the appointment of interim Chairman PEMRA
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) on Friday filed a petition in Supreme Court seeking the court to restrict Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) as per the law in order for it to work independently, Dunya News reported.
The filed petition submits that PEMRA is not bound to take directions of any kind form the government about its jurisdiction, authority and decision making.
The petition pleads the court to term the appointment of interim Chairman PEMRA illegal and to declare that PEMRA has failed to fulfill its responsibilities.
It was also said that the appointments must be made as per law and court decisions. The petition has made federation, PEMRA, Interim Chairman PEMRA Pervaiz Rathore and other members respondents to the petition.
