The opposition demanded explanation over appointment of and rewarding a controversial figure.

QUETTA (Dunya News) – Chief Minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik on Saturday admitted to appointing former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry’s son Arsalan Iftikhar as Investment Board’s Vice Chairman on his own will and not because of nepotism. The opposition demanded explanation over appointment of and rewarding a controversial figure, Dunya News reported.
According to sources, Arsalan Iftikhar will enjoy residences in Islamabad and Quetta, three cars, domestic and international travel allowance among other incentives.
The displeasure of Iftikhar’s appointment also echoed in Balochistan Assembly where opposition members expressed concerns.
During the session, opposition member Abdul Rehman Kethran asked under what law has Arsalan been appointed on the said position. He demanded that the assembly should be told the reason a controversial figure is being rewarded.
Following the uproar, Chief Minister Balochistan admitted to Arsalan Iftikhar’s appointment saying anyone having objection should bring the matter to him, following which, speaker assembly postponed the session for indefinite period.
