PEMRA suspends licences of ARY News, Geo Entertainment, fines 10 million
A penalty of Rs 10 million has been imposed on both the channels.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Friday suspended Geo Entertainment’s licence for 30 days, and ARY News’s licence for 15 days along with Rs 10 million penalties to both the channels, Dunya News reported.
According to details, Geo Entertainment’s licence was suspended over blasphemous broadcast for 30 days whereas ARY News’s licence received 15-day licence suspension penalty for slandering judiciary.
Geo’s morning show’s anchor Shaista Lodhi along with her team have been banned from broadcasting the show from any other network in Pakistan.
ARY News show ‘Kharra Sach’ and its anchor Mubashir Lucman have also been barred from the broadcast.
