CM Punjab urges MQI administration not to boycott judicial commission
The govt wants to provide justice to the victims at every cost, he said.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday appealed to the Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) administration to withdraw their decision to boycott the judicial commission in the name of ‘justice and humanity,’ Dunya News reported.
In a statement issued from Lahore, Sharif urged the Minhaj-ul-Quran administration to withdraw the boycott saying that the government wants to provide justice to the affectees at every cost.
He said that cooperating with the judicial commission is critical so that the culprits behind the loss of precious lives could be brought to justice.
Sharif said that the judicial process is the only way towards justice, adding that boycotting the process is unfair to the victims and their families.
Mihaj-ul-Quran chief Dr Tahirul Qadri had rejected judicial commission formed by the government to probe into Model Town tragedy.
Qadri had also refused to take compensation money, announced by the provincial government for deceased families, saying “we don’t accept the judicial commission and families of our martyrs don’t need government compensation.”
Qadri said that his party would look after families of the deceased workers and will provide education, food and accommodation.
