Model Town tragedy: 14 PAT workers sent on remand, 11 women released on bail

LAHORE (Dunya News) - A court on Wednesday released eleven female and three older activists of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).

Shahdara and Shahdara Town Police produced 11 women and 17 men to the Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC).

These persons were arrested during clash when police attacked Minhajul Quran Secretariat to remove barricades outside the building.

Tight security arrangements were made on the occasion of production of these persons to the court. Relatives of those arrested were also present outside the court on this occasion.

Police took the stance before the court that the detained persons were involved in vandalism and they also threw handmade petrol bombs on police officials.

Police prayed to the court to grant remand of the accused for interrogation. The detained persons rejected police allegations and took the stance that false case had been registered against them.

After hearing the arguments, the court sent 14 persons on judicial remand while 11 women and three older persons were released on bail.

Meanwhile, Faisal Town Police also brought 45 persons but the police vehicle took them back without producing in the court.

On the other hand, Dr Tahirul Qadri’s son Hussain Mohiuddin has also been nominated in the FIR registered by Faisal Town Police Station.

At least 52 people have been nominated in the FIR registered on the complaint of the Punjab government.

According to police, at least 40 persons threatened officials when they were removing barricades while the number protesters increased and they attacked police.
