The suicide attack took place on Wednesday, on a road outside the town of Fateh Jang.

(Web Desk) - Colonel Muhammad Zahir and Colonel Arshad Hussain, who embraced martyrdom yesterday in a suicide attack near Tarnol, Rawalpindi, were laid to rest in their ancestral towns with full military honour, Dunya News reported on Thursday.

Colonel Zahir Shah’s funeral prayer was offered amid tight security in his native village near Peshawar while Colonel Arshad’s funeral prayer was offered in his ancestral town in Jaranwala.

It may be mentioned that the two officers and three civilians embraced martyrdom when a suicide bomber hit security forces vehicle near a railway crossing on Fateh Jang Road early Wednesday morning.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack.

According to AFP, more than 4,000 Pakistani police, paramilitaries or troops have lost their lives in terrorist attacks since 2002, but the death of high-ranking officers is rare.
