PPP, ANP to side with govt to counter 'grand alliance' threat

LAHORE (Dunya News) – In response to Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PMLQ) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT)’s threat to form a ‘grand alliance’ against the government, two major parties Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) have announced to side with the government. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) hasn’t made a decision yet. Punjab’s law minister Rana Sanaullah termed the meeting of opposition parties as political dwarfs’ gathering, Dunya News reported.
PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira said that PPP will support democratic forces instead of ‘unconstitutional series’. He said that every political entity including the government alleged rigging.
“However the government is, it should complete its tenure,” he said.
ANP’s senator Zahid Khan said that every alliance aimed at derailing democracy will be countered.
PTI’s central spokesperson Shireen Mazari said that Imran Khan is in London for personal activities, adding that if PTI is approached for grand alliance, the core committee shall decide.
Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed said that the government is giving false hope to the people, adding that the sacrifice has to be made before the Eid of sacrifice.
He said that all political parties should unite. Commenting on the opposition parties’ meetings, Rana Sanaullah said that these are political dwarfs’ gatherings and that it will remain inconclusive.
He said that everyone is aware of Maulana’s drama and that Chaudhry brothers’ worth will remain zero wherever they go.
