ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today (Tuesday) took notice of kidnapping of a Chinese tourist from Dera Ismail Khan district, Dunya News reported.

The Prime Minister has directed concerned authorities to take immediate steps for recovery of the abducted Chinese national at earliest.

According to Police officer Sadiq Baloch, the Chinese national s passport, bicycle and belongings were found on Tuesday. The man went missing on Monday from Dera Ismail Khan district.

The official further said the Chinese tourist had apparently entered Pakistan from neighboring India in April.

The police were not informed about the man s presence in the district bordering Pakistan s lawless tribal region, he added.

Earlier today, a commander of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan in South Waziristan, Abdullah Bahar, told media that they kidnapped the Chinese tourist and shifted him to some safe hideout.

Bahar said they kidnapped the tourist from Dera Ismail Khan district for future negotiations with the Pakistani government for the release of their arrested members.
