PESHAWAR (Dunya News) -- Federal minister for water and power Abid Sher Ali warned on Tuesday that feeders that supply electricity to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province will be shut down if electricity theft is not curbed in the province, Dunya News reported.
Addressing media, he said that line losses in thirty feeders of PESCO have increased. He said that a hundred percent increase in electricity was observed in Warsek.
Sher Ali urged theb provincial government to open its eyes regarding the matter, warning that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s feeders will be shut down if electricity theft is not curbed.
Meanwhile, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon claimed that most of the electricity theft takes place in Punjab, adding that no province has the right to insult another. He said that Abid Sher Ali makes such statements to make headlines.
Earlier, after cutting additional electricity for Karachi, Abid Sher Ali said on Saturday that Sindh government is defaulter of Rs. 52 billion and that notices for recovery of debt have repeatedly been issued, Dunya News had reported.
According to reports, federal government has stopped supplying additional electricity to Karachi city.
Addressing media, Abid Sher Ali said that the supply of additional electricity to Karachi city has been stopped because Sindh government hasn’t paid its debt of 52 billion rupees.
He also said that Sindh government has been notified of the development though newspaper advertisements.
Abid Sher Ali has reportedly been cracking down against electricity theft since becoming the minister. He often comes under fire for naming Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial governments in electricity theft scandals.
