ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court (SC) has summoned chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday for not making progress regarding probe into OGRA implementation case.

A three-member bench of Supreme Court headed by Justice Jawad S. Khawaja resumed hearing of OGRA implementation case on Tuesday.

The bench expressed resentment and said that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) did not submit the report of the Ogra implementation case.

Prosecutor General NAB K K Agha told the court that NAB Rawalpindi did not posses any report related to the matter.
He said that the investigation officer of the case was out of city and prayed to the court to give two weeks time for preparation of report.

Upon this, Justice Jawad S. Khawaja remarked that the court could give two years time if there was any hope of positive result.

He said that the OGRA case had significance importance but NAB was not showing seriousness in this regards.

Justice Jawad S. Khawaj said that 26 months have passed since the filing of the case and the investigation had become so long that no progress had been shown.

K K Agha explained that the post of NAB chairman was vacant due to which the progress could not be made. He said that the investigation had been completed and soon the decision would be announced.

Justice Jawad S. Khawaj remarked that NAB always sought time but never took action against corrupt elements.“Should the important cases remain pending if the office of NAB chief was lying vacant”, he remarked.

He said the chairman’s office was lying vacant only for five months and NAB should explain what it had been doing during the remaining 21 months. “Enough is enough and no more time would be given in this regard”, he said.

Justice Jawad S. Khawaja remarked that the reply of four aspects had been sought from NAB as: who was involved in Tauqir Sadiq’s appointment? Who was held responsible for Rs 82 billion corruption in OGRA?,who helped Tauqir Sadiq to escape the country?, how much amount was spent to bring Taukir Sadiq back in Pakistan?

Justice Jawad S. Khawaja remarked that the court did not serve contempt of court notice to NAB authorities as it wanted to give them time but no progress could be made so far.

The bench expressed dissatisfaction over the investigation being done so far and summoned Chairman NAB on Wednesday.
