SC rejects IG FC's report in missing persons case
Says no progress has been made in resolving such a major issue.
QUETTA (Online) - The Supreme Court of Pakistan has rejected the report of the Inspector General Frontier Corps (IG FC) regarding the missing persons and has remarked that no progress has been made in resolving such a major issue.
During proceedings of the Balochistan law and order case at the apex court’s Quetta registry, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heading the three member bench, expressed anger over the failure of IG FC to appear before the bench.
Chief Justice Chaudhry told the Additional Attorney General to inform the IG FC that the report regarding missing persons was not accepted.
He said it is no use for us to come here. What response would we give to relatives of missing persons. He said that the IG did not even appear in the last hearing and even today he is absent.
If you do not want to cooperate with the court and honour our decision than we can just go home.
“We do not want to see anyone’s face; we want the missing persons to be recovered. Forces should not be embarrassed; they are being blamed by everyone,” Chief Justice Chaudhry remarked.
In the last hearing you yourself told the court that complete determination was expressed at a high level meeting that missing persons would be recovered. Now where are the missing persons, the CJ questioned.
The chief justice also asked for those FC officers who have cases pending against them to appear in court as only then they would hand over the missing persons.
Justice Jawad Khawaja talking to additional AGP said that IG FC should attend critical meetings but according to the schedule he should have been present on Sept 16-17.
We have not come here to listen to stories. IG FC should come no matter where he is right now.
CJP also questioned where is Federal Interior Secretary. On this the attorney general told the court that Interior secretary has gone with PM to Turkey.
On this the CJP replied it is felt that you people do not want to rule the state. There is no IG FC nor any representative of the federal government.
We respect every one but everyone has to do their duty.
Justice Azmat Saeed remarked that the officers were not aware of the cost associated with their non-serious attitude.
Why our orders are not being implemented, he questioned.
CJP asked the Additional AGP to give in writing that our orders would not be implemented. We come here to listen to people’s problems and our expenditure is bored by the government is there anyone who can tells us what is the use of us coming.
CJ said that IG FC should appear before court tomorrow we are in hurry to leave Quetta.
