OGRA scam:Tauqir handed over to NAB for 12 days
The court also has directed to get the accused examined medically as well.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) The Accountability Court has handed over NAB accused Tauqir Sadiq to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on physical remand for 12 days. The court also has directed the investigation institute to get his medical examination.
Investigation team had moved an application in the Accountability Court and informed the court that the accused had been arrested on July 9. During investigation, the accused unmasked many scandals of corruption including OGRA corruption and gas theft.
The probing teaming also prayed to the court that the accused should be handed over to them for some days on physical remand so that they may be able to complete their investigation properly.
Apart from this, four important witnesses of Sui Southern Gas also recorded their statements.
Investigation team also has collected some documentary proofs of a private gas company for allegedly involved in gas theft.
About Rs 42 billion have been recovered directly or indirectly from Tauqir Sadiq while Rs 13 billion are yet to be recovered.
The investigation team also told the court that some others accused allegedly involved in the case are in UEA and Canada; that is why they have got physical remand of main accused Tauqir so that his other accomplices may be taken back in the country for completion of investigation.
The accused’s counsel Faheem Khan requested the court that his client was not feeling well; so he should be avoided to hand over to the NAB on physical remand.
The court kept its finding reserved for some time and ultimately handed Tauqir Sadiq to NAB with the direction to get his medical examination on priority basis.
