KP demands due share of electricity
KP CM Pervez Khattak says the load shedding is unjustified and unannounced in the province.
PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Chief Minister Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak Monday demanded true electricity share for the province.
Talking to media here after meeting of coalition partners, Khattak said WAPDA is federal institute which is responsible of distribution of electricity.
He said the load shedding is ‘unjustified and unannounced’ in the province.
The chief minister demanded supply of electricity accordance to province right; however he warned if the province would be ignored they have no choice but to protest against this injustice.
He said people of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa were suffering with hours long power outage added that his government was being defamed by load shedding.
Khattak also demanded time frame of load shedding from federal government and end of unscheduled load shedding.
He said KPK government did not want conflict with the federation but present situation taking test of their patience.
Financial minister of the province, Siraj-ul-Haq said that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has capacity to generate over 25, 000 MW electricity.
JI leader said if charge of WAPDA is handed over to the province they can assure and guarantee the power crisis in the country would end within three years.
Haq said it seemed the federal government doest not want to invest in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
Earlier, the protest against unannounced load shedding in the province has been put off by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf led government.
PTI had announced protest demonstration outside the Peshawar’s WAPDA house and across the province. CM KPK Pervez Khattak was to lead the demonstrations.
However, in a statement issued here on Monday, Special Advisor to CM KPK, Zia Ullah Afridi, said that the planned protest had been postponed on the directives of the CM who would announce the further course of action later today after taking coalition partners into confidence.
