PM orders strict action against electricity, power theft

FAISALABAD (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday ordered concerned authorities to take stern action against those involved in electricity and gas theft.

 

The Prime Minister and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif visited a textile mill in Faisalabad that was involved in gas theft.

 

The prime minister was briefed regarding gas theft being done by the factory owners. He was informed that the factory owners allegedly stole gas worth 270 million rupees.

 

Speaking on the occasion‚ PM Nawaz said there should be no tolerance against gas and electricity stealers.

 

The Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) recently started an operation against gas theft and had raided multiple commercial mills and factories.

 

The mill in Faisalabad was raided as a part of this operation and was fined a total of Rs0.11 billion.

 

A case was filed against the owner of the mill and the equipment used for gas supply was also seized.
