Missing persons' case: Secy Interior, others issued notices

Despite court order, seven missing persons could not be presented in the court on Friday.


ISLAMABAD (Dunya News):- Attorney General is of the view that missing persons could not be presented in the court due as government machinery is busy in making arrangements for general elections in the country. 

 

Three-member bench of Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed hearing of the case. Petitioner’s lawyer Tariq Assad and Attorney General of Pakistan Irfan Qadir appeared in the court for argumentation.


Attorney General told the court that prisoners could not be presented in the court due to some reservations regarding security arrangements as all the machinery was busy in electoral activities. He further added that law ministry and ministry for interior have been issued notices in this regard.


He made it clear that he had some reservations on presence of prisoners; despite this, detainees would be presented in the court for further proceedings.


The court has ordered the Secretary Interior and Additional Advocate General’s PA to present in the court on next hearing to be held on May 14.
