The SC has directed to take action against the department that created hurdle in the procedure.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The apex court has asked the Foreign Secretary to remove all the documental loopholes related to Sadiq’s return to the country.

A two-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Jawad S Khwaja heard the OGRA Corruption Case on Thursday.

During the hearing, Prosecutor General NAB, K K Agha told the apex court that all the arrangements for facilitating the return were final but in the last moments, the UAE Police stated that his documents were incomplete.

At this, Justice Jawad S Khwaja inquired why NAB took no action against the institutions that created hurdles in the way of Tauqeer Sadiq’s return. Prosecutor General NAB replied that action would be taken against those responsible in this regard.

Justice Khwaja further noted that no reference has been filed against those supporting the escape of Tauqeer Sadiq. Subsequently, Judicial Assistant Khwaja Haris observed that a case could be filed against such persons under Article 212 and 216 of Pakistan Penal Code.

Justice Jawad S Khwaja remarked that the national institutions take action against a Deputy Post Master accused of embezzlement of Rs 160,000, while they seem reluctant with regard to other more important issues.

The court ordered Secretary Foreign Affairs to present the report relevant to the comeback of Tauqeer Sadiq on the next hearing.

Afterwards, the court adjourned the hearing till March 11.
