Kerry for closer ties with Pakistan

US Secretary of State John Kerry reaffirmed Washington's desire to forge closer ties with Pakistan.

 

US Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday reaffirmed Washington's desire to forge closer relations and stronger co-operation with Pakistan.

 

According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, John Kerry telephoned Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar and also accepted her invitation to visit Pakistan at the earliest.

 

Congratulating Secretary Kerry on his appointment, Hina Rabbani Khar said that she looked forward to closely working with him to further expand the relations between the two countries.

 

Foreign Minister Khar and Secretary Kerry agreed that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan was in the common interest of both Pakistan and the US. They expressed satisfaction on the progress that has been made during the past few months and looked forward to more intensive engagement in this regard.
