SC seeks explanation over missing prisoners' detention

The Chief Justice directed the authorities to resolve the matter and present the facts at earliest.

 

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday raised a question that under what law the missing prisoners were kept in detention for more than a year, Dunya News reported.

 

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed hearing of Adiala jail’s missing prisoner s case.

 

The Attorney General told the court that these prisoners would be prosecuted on the basis of evidences against them.

 

The Chief Justice observed that the court should be apprised under what law they were kept in detention for fifteen months.

 

Attorney General requested the bench to grant him more time for consultation over the matter with the concerned authorities.

 

Subsequently, the case hearing was adjourned till January 28.
