3 PIA pilots sacked for having fake degrees

Three Pakistan International Airlines pilots were sacked for possessing fake degrees.

 

PIA Chairman and Secretary of Defence Lt Gen (Rtd) Asif Yasin Malik, informed an inquiry committee of the National Assembly, probing fire during an Islamabad-bound PIA flight on Sunday, that the pilot thrice tried to start the engine but it omitted smoke each time.

 

He further informed that according to SOP, thorough checking of the plane is carried out if the engine of a does not start after three attempts.

 

PIA Chairman also revealed that three Pakistan International Airlines pilots were sacked for possessing fake degrees while degrees of other pilots and other officials are being checked.

 

He said that PIA suffered Rs 410 million losses during Hajj operation. He further informed that PIA aircraft are more than 26-year-old and consume more fuel.

 

PIA Chairman informed that 54 percent of PIA’s total income is spent on fuel purchasing while 12 percent goes in debt servicing.
