PIA flight catches fire at Karachi airport

CJP was among the passengers in an Islamabad-bound PIA plane that caught fire on Sunday.

 

KARACHI: The engine of an Islamabad-bound PIA flight, with members National Assembly, federal ministers and Chief Justice of Pakistan on board, caught fire just before takeoff. The flight PK-300 was on the taxiway when the fire broke out in one of its engines.


Declaring emergency Civil Aviation Authority cancelled the flight. Rescue teams were sent for extinguishing the fire and evacuating the passengers.


Federal Minister Maula Bux Chandio slammed PIA for its negligence.


MNA Yousuf Talpur, who was also on board, criticised PIA for risking passengers  lives by using unfit aircraft. "The entry of this aircraft is banned in Europe." he said.
