ISLAMABAD: Former president of Pakistan General (r) Pervez Musharraf has called for imposing a ‘martial law’ in Karachi to purge the country’s largest city and hub of economic activities of illegal weapons.

Expressing his views during an interview to a private news channel on Saturday, he opined that a lieutenant general should be made martial law administrator in the city.

Musharraf, however, said that Pakistan Army should not take the lead, but one of its generals should monitor the operation done by Rangers. He asserted indiscriminate action for complete de-weaponization of the city.

The former president also said that the action must be owned by both the government and the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
