Islamabad celebrates spring with cycling event

(Dunya News) – Spring Festival 2018 kicked off in Islamabad with a cycling race event.

Enthusiastic participants of all age groups ranging from 10-year-olds to 50-year-olds, took part in the race. Professional cyclists also took part in the race, which boosted other cyclists to paddle faster.

Young children and women participants showed their strength by cycling till the endpoint. The race started from Marghazar Zoo and ended in Daman-e-Koh.

Cyclists paddled all the way along the roads leading to the top of Daman-e-Koh while enjoying the surreal beauty of the Margalla hills.

Participants said that if more outdoor events are organised, more people will turn towards physical activity. Some participants spoke on the importance of healthy outdoor activity saying that it helps regain strength mentally and physically, and connects people to nature.

Speaking to Dunya News, organisers of the event said, “Pakistan has sacrificed a lot due to terrorism and since peace has been restored in the country, these events sends a positive message to the world".

At the end of the ceremony prizes were distributed among men, women and children participants.
