LAHORE (Web Desk) – Fake news about the statement of Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has spread on social media, which he denied later.

According to a statement released on the micro-blogging website Twitter, the interior minister said that a statement attributed to him was going viral on social media which was being presented against the facts. “This statement was taken from my beeper aired on private TV channel which was related to Gilgit-Baltistan. My Beeper was recorded last year before the Gilgit-Baltistan election.”

He further wrote that some elements are deliberately attributing his statement to Kashmir for their nefarious purpose. “The proposal to make Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) as a new province of Pakistan was not discussed in any forum and I had never issued such a statement.”

Sheikh Rashid also mentioned that he was never in support of making AJK a province of Pakistan and would never be in future. “I am a supporter of Kashmir s struggle for independence and Kashmiris on both the sides are well aware of my role,” he added.

“Owing to remove the insult of defeat in the AJK elections, the opposition is using a cheap tactics by distorting my statement,” he further said in his tweet.
