NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – Bollywood s dimpled beauty Preity Zinta turned 39 on Friday (today).

Born in 1975, Preity Zinta who describes herself as a tomboy in her childhood, never thought to be a Bollywood actress. Before foraying into Bollywood, this bubbly actress persuaded modeling as career. Preity shot to fame as the refreshing, cool, wet model in the Liril commercial. She also modeled for Perk and her dimpled smile won the hearts of millions.

Seeing Preity in Liril commercial, film-maker Shekhar Kapur signed her opposite Hrithik Roshan in Tara Rum Pum Pum but unfortunately the film never went on floor.

Then Mani Ratnam signed her for a small but meaty role in Dil Se. Her performance in the movie earned accolades from critics.

Her first two films ‘Dil Se’ and ‘Soldier’ were well-received and earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She proved her versatility by playing a single teenage mother in ‘Kya Kehna’, for which she was nominated for the Best Actress award.  She got Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her performance in Kal Ho Na Ho.

Apart from Bollywood she has also acted in an English film-The Last Lear (directed by Rituparno Ghosh) and a Canadian film- Heaven On Earth, for which she was awarded the Silver Hugo Award for Best Actress at the Chicago International Film Festival.
