'The Butler' opens atop box office

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Director Lee Daniels biopic of a White House butler who served eight presidents topped the weekend box office while three other new releases failed to connect with fans.

The superhero caper "Kick-Ass 2," dramatic thriller "Paranoia" and Steve Jobs biopic "Jobs" also opened Friday but were outpaced by holdovers from the previous week.
The Jennifer Aniston-Jason Sudeikis comedy, "We re the Millers," was the runner-up for the second week in a row, while last week s top movie, "Elysium," came in third.
