HEC issue be not politicized: employees

Association says 4 VCs were not stopped from entering the premisis.


ISLAMABAD: The officers’ association of HEC rebut the news item, appeared in a section of the press, narrated that a few vice chancellors were stopped from entering the premises of the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad.


In a statement issue from the office of HEC Officer Association on Sunday clarified that four vice chancellors came to HEC on last Friday when meeting of the Commission (HEC’s Governing Body) was being held.


They were requested by HEC staff not to enter the venue of Commission’s meeting since none of them is its Member. They were offered to sit in another office till the meeting is finished.


These Vice Chancellors included Dr. Nizamuddin, VC, University of Gujrat, Dr. Akram Chaudhry, VC, University of Sargodha, Dr. Nasir Jamal Khattak, VC, Kohat University of Science and Technology, and Dr. Asmatuallah Khan, VC, Bannu University.


It is also clarified that they had actually come to HEC to influence the Commission Members in favour of former Executive Director, Dr. Sohail Naqvi. Even Dr. Asmatuallah, Vice Chancellor, Bannu University, was carrying a personal weapon in addition to official weapons.


“Every Vice Chancellor is respectable for HEC employees but we request these honourable heads of universities to avoid politicizing our institution. HEC has been working for development of universities and will continue to work in the same manner. Personal interests of any individual should not affect functioning of HEC,” the employees said.
