KARACHI (Dunya News) - Three terrorists of a banned organisation were taken out in an ‘encounter’ with CTD in Manghopir here on Sunday, Dunya News reported.
CTD In-charge Raja Umer Khatab said a joint operation was conducted by the CTD personnel and other security agencies.
The operation was carried out on a tip-off that some elements of a proscribed outfit were hiding in a house.
The law enforcers engaged them successfully. In the shootouts, which continued for quite a long time, three enemies of the country were eliminated.
According to CTD, the terrorists were complicit in many serious crimes and anti-country activities.
Their dead bodies were sent to hospital for medicolegal procedures. Further investigation was under way.
The CTD in-charge further said that the three terrorists were killed on the spot in the exchange of fire. The terrorists belong to the banned TTP. One of the dead terrorists was a suicide bomber.
Raja Omar Khatab said that the slain terrorists had entered from Afghanistan some time ago. They were involved in an attack on Chinese citizens last year. A Kalashnikov, 2 TT pistols, grenades, suicide jackets and a diary were recovered from the slain suspects.
He said that the terrorists have been identified as Saffron and Qudratullah. The government had set the price of Saffron's head at Rs 20 million. One of the dead terrorists could not be identified.
