Video of the incident went viral, prompting action against the ASI
(Web Desk) - An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was suspended from service for allegedly beating a woman on the premises of a local court in Taxila Tehsil.
The action against the ASI was taken after a video showing the police officer badly beating up a woman went viral. In the video it could be seen that the woman was making efforts to snatch her son from the police custody.
Her son was arrested for allegedly involving in pickpocketing. But she was insisting that her son was innocent.
She was attempting to prevent the policemen from bundling her son into a police van, infuriating the inspector, who unleashed a barrage of blows, slaps and kicks on the woman.
With the viral of the video, police high-ups took notice of the incident. According a police spokesman, City Police Officer Syed Khalid Hamdani suspended the assistant sub-inspector and sought a report from the Pothohar superintendent of police.
