CTD arrests 11 terrorists in parts of Punjab

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claims to have arrested 11 terrorists during 135 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) carried out in several cities of Punjab.
According to the CTD spokesperson, the operations were carried out in Lahore, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Jhang, Narowal and Jhelum.
The spokesperson added that an Afghan-trained terrorist was also arrested in Bahawalpur.
Explosive material, an improvised explosive device (IED), weapons, mobile phones and cash were recovered from the suspects.
The terrorists were planning to target some important installations in the province.
The terrorists were identified as Gul Shah Din, Kazim, Nawab, Usama, Ijaz, Zaheer, Mustafa Khan and Rasool Khan.
As many as 80 suspects were arrested by the CTD in 790 combing operations this week, while 33,546 people were interrogated by the law-enforcement agency (LEA).
The spokesperson added that the CTD was committed to rooting out the menace of terrorism from Punjab in a bid to ensure security of the citizens.
