Policeman arrested for abduction, extortion in Karachi

The accused along with his fellow policeman committed crimes

KARACHI (Dunya News) – A policeman involved in many incidents of kidnapping and extortion was arrested.

According to the police, accused policeman Babar along with his accomplice, who is also stated to be a policeman, looted cash and valuables from a rickshaw driver a month ago.

Both the accused were posted in Tipu Sultan police station and committed crimes in Sadar area.

They kidnapped the rickshaw from FTC and took him to an unknown location, where they freed him after taking Rs30,000 as extortion money.

They were involved in many incidents of abduction and extortion.

Attempts were being made to arrest his accomplice Usman.

A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is under way.

In another incident, three suspected robbers were arrested after an alleged encounter with the police, near Hassan Square Bridge.

Police received information that three robbers were hiding in the area and plotting to loot citizens.

Responding to the call, police reached the spot. On seeing the police party, the outlaws started firing, which was effectively retaliated.

As a result, three bandits were injured and arrested.

Weapons and stolen goods were recovered from them.
