Police responded to the home after a woman called

(Web-Desk) - Preston Windus was shot and killed by his son Daniel, 19, according to police.

A Phoenix father was shot and killed by his son who then turned the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide, police said, according to multiple reports.

Police said Daniel Windus, 19, killed his father, Preston, 54, inside a home in north Phoenix, before walking out to a car and shooting himself, police said, AZFamily, 12News and FOX 10 report.

Police responded to the home after a woman called 911, the outlets reported.

A 911 caller stated that Preston Windus “was shot inside her home and told 911 operators she believed he was shot by her son,” police Sgt. Phil Krynsky told FOX 10.

“As officers arrived, they found a man deceased inside a vehicle, parked in the driveway. The woman came out to officers and confirmed her husband was shot and was unresponsive inside their home," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Phil Krynsky.

The 911 caller also reportedly told police there were “possible hazards” in the home and a bomb squad responded, though nothing was found, reported AZFamily. Nearby homes were evacuated during the response, the outlet reported.
