Rescuers recover body of missing girl at Karachi's Seaview beach

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Rescuers found on Sunday the body of a young girl who was drowned in water at the Seaview Beach a couple of days ago.

23-year-old Sara Malik went missing and it was later transpired that she might have committed suicide while jumping into Sea water.

Police said the victim was a resident of Karachi’s Azam Basti, a neighbourhood in Karachi East. “We are investigating whether the girl committed suicide or it was something else,” said the officials.

The search for the girl had to be stopped on Friday night due to intense darkness and was resumed later in the day. The information regarding Sara Malik’s family was found in the documents of her wallet that was recovered at Do Darya.

The family of the victim claimed that she didn’t commit suicide but it’s a murder case. Sara’s uncle told police that she worked at an animal hospital in the Defence area and she happily left for work from home on Jan 6, the day she went missing. He said Sara had neither any sort of financial nor mental issues. He also registered a complaint against the staff of animal hospital.

Police have shifted the body for autopsy and recorded statements of family members and witnesses.
