Gujranwala: Three killed, several injured in firing by housing society guards

GUJRANWALA (Dunya News) - Three people were killed and several others got injured during a clash between landowners and security guards of a private housing society in Gujranwala.

According to details, landlords were protesting against non-payment of land by the owners of a private housing society in Gujranwala. A fight erupted after the protesters pelted stones at the housing society staff. Two security guards were injured. Following this, more guards came and opened fire at the protesters.

The injured were rushed to the District Headquarter Hospital Gujranwala, where three people succumbed to their injuries.

The dead were identified as Rana Imran and Rana Amjad. Despite heavy firing and clashes, the police could not reach the spot on time. Protesters placed the body of a man named Rana Imran on GT Road demanding justice.

According to police, 41 people including society owners Waqas Ojla, Ahmed Ojla and Ahsan Ojla have been arrested and action has been initiated.

Acting Commissioner Gujranwala Sohail Ashraf took notice of the incident and set up a committee to investigate the protest.

Inquiry Deputy Commissioner Sohail Ashraf will head the committee, AC Headquarters and AC Sadar will be members of the committee.

On the other hand, IG Punjab has taken notice of the alleged firing incident by the guards of a private housing society in Gujranwala and demanded a report of the incident while ordering strict legal action against the accused.
